JiLi333 Gambling AdvertisingPAGCOR's Responsible Gaming Code of Practice says gambling advertising must be socially responsible: no ads aimed at people under 21, no suggestion that gambling solves money problems, and no misleading statements about odds and prizes.

Free counseling Philippines services are there for the step most players put off until the numbers are frightening, and that step works best long before then. If play has started to cost more than you planned, or you have borrowed to keep going, this page lists who you can call in the Philippines, what a first session looks like, and a money plan you can start this week. Every service below is described in its own words or in PAGCOR’s.

If you are in crisis rather than in debt, go straight to the mental health hotline numbers. Save at least one of these numbers in your phone today, before you need it, so that the call takes seconds when it matters.

Debt counseling Philippines: what to ask on the first call

Ask these four questions, and write the answers down:

  1. Is the service free, and is it confidential?
  2. Can I get regular sessions, or only a one-off call?
  3. Can you help my family understand what is happening?
  4. Who do you refer me to if I need debt or legal advice?

What happens in a first session

A first session is a conversation, not a test. Expect to talk about how often you play, how much you spend, what you owe and to whom, and how gambling affects your sleep, work and family. The counselor is trying to see the whole picture, so bring it with you.

Many people arrive expecting a lecture and leave with a plan instead. The plan usually starts small: one change to how money reaches the casino, one person who knows, one barrier that makes the next deposit harder. Honest numbers make that plan realistic, so resist the urge to round your losses down.

Families can call too. A spouse, parent or adult child who is worried about someone’s play can ask a helpline how to raise the subject and what support exists for them; PAGCOR’s family exclusion programme, below, exists for exactly that situation.

Prepare before the call:

  1. List every debt: lender, amount, due date.
  2. Note your income and fixed bills for the month.
  3. Estimate what you spent on play in the last 30 days.
  4. Write one sentence about why you are calling now.

Gambling debt help: a first-week money plan

Counseling works better when the bleeding has stopped. Start these the same day:

DayStep
Day 1Stop depositing. Log out of every casino account and remove saved cards and wallets where you can
Day 2Write the full debt list and the month’s fixed bills
Day 3Call the NPGH or another service from the table above
Day 4Tell one person you trust, and ask them to check in with you
Day 5Contact lenders yourself to ask about a payment plan, in writing
Day 6Apply for exclusion if you cannot keep away on your own
Day 7Review the week with your counselor or your trusted person

Do not borrow to “win it back”, and do not let anyone talk you into a “one last deposit” to recover a balance. A promotion that asks you to deposit more before you can withdraw works the same way; the wagering requirement explainer shows how those conditions keep money in play.

Exclusion: closing the door yourself

PAGCOR runs two exclusion programmes. Its own page sets them out:

  1. Self exclusion: for patrons who feel they are developing a problem; periods of 6 months, 1 year or 5 years, with the first six months irrevocable; it lifts automatically at the end.
  2. Family exclusion: a spouse, child or parent can apply for a loved one; periods of 6 months, 1 year or 3 years.

PAGCOR also lists an online self-exclusion application portal on its responsible-gaming page. Choose the longest period you can face: a short exclusion that ends just as the urge returns protects you less than a longer one you do not have to think about again for a while. Exclusion covers what PAGCOR regulates; for any other site, the strongest barrier is not having an account, a saved card or a link to it on your phone.

Lenders, ads and the traps around debt

Three things make gambling debt worse, and each has its own page here. Lending apps that approve in minutes and collect by harassment are covered on the loan app checks. Ads that promise easy money break PAGCOR’s own advertising rules, which the gambling advertising page explains. And money sent to an unknown site is hard to trace, which is why the payment methods explained here matter: keep every reference number.

Before you open any casino link while you are trying to cut back, run it through the link checker routine. If you decide to keep playing at all, the JiLi333 review checklist shows how to check a lobby before you trust it, and the responsible gaming page sets out the limits this site recommends.

FAQ

Is there free counseling in the Philippines for gambling problems?

PAGCOR describes the National Problem Gambling Helpline as a 24/7 support platform offering confidential assistance and counseling. Call (02) 8248 9568 or write to support@npgh.ph, and ask what the service covers.

What happens in a first counseling call?

Expect questions about how much you play, what you owe and how it affects your life. Have your debts written down, and be honest about the numbers; the counselor's job is to help, not to judge.

Should I borrow to pay a gambling debt?

Borrowing to cover gambling usually makes the hole deeper. Talk to a counselor first, and read the loan app page before you sign anything with a lender.

Can I stop myself from entering a casino?

Yes. PAGCOR runs a self-exclusion programme with periods of 6 months, 1 year or 5 years, and the first six months cannot be revoked. Families can apply for family exclusion too.

Where can I find people going through the same thing?

Gamblers Anonymous Philippines lists face-to-face meetings and a contact number on its own site, gaphilippines.com, so you can find a group near you.

What if gambling stress has become a crisis?

Call a mental health hotline now. The mental health hotline page lists the NCMH crisis numbers and other lines from their own published pages.
